Here
are some quick samples of a new MKV concert chanter, with a couple of
different reeds in it. Chanter by
itself In Em
With Drones
And
here it is doing something possibly a bit unusual, and not part of the
design brief! It will give a 2nd octave F#by lifting the E finger
and leaving the Eb finger on - you can also hear the usual tight F# (a
bit brighter and more strident). This lets you triplet the F#,
and also trill F# and E (with the Eb finger) without the usual roar of
2nd octave F# with 3 fingers off. Strange!
I
don't really know where to put this so it's in the flat and concert
sections. True narrow bore
(flat) chanter in D made by Peter and recently in for
reeding. Of course this chanter is relatively quiet compared to
this which I recorded quickly for comparison, my MK V concert chanter which in
common with the flat D above I am playing without due care and
attention and also with a bandaged finger after an accident restoring
what will hopefully one day be the new workshop . .

3/4 set Lignum with narrow
bore regulators here, if only
there was a good piper here to play them. . . .
The clip is to get an idea of how the narrow bore regs sit with the
volume of the concert chanter, an accompaniment not a shouting match .
. ignore my wonky bag pressure please.

Here
is a clip of a 17 key Northumbrian Small Pipe chanter made by
Peter some
time ago. He made one prototype, never even keyed it, and then
cracked
out this belting chanter.
If you want one of these, then tough. Too fiddly!! All
Mp3's are
less than 1meg.
